Tennessee In Training is a group training program for the 2009 Country Music Marathon & Half Marathon. It is a joint initiative between UT’s Young Alumni Council and the Davidson County Young Alumni group.
We are planning a number of great events and features as a part of Tennessee in Training. These include a TnT page on http://alumni.utk.edu, Saturday morning group runs from Centennial Park in Nashville, a "half way there" happy hour during week 6 of the program, a pasta dinner the night before the race, the opportunity to raise money for a great cause, and more. Our website will include a portal to register for TnT, the 12 week training program the group will follow, helpful links with resources for runners, weekly training tips, and profiles of alumni training with the group.
2009 is the first year for Tennessee in Training, and the group will be raising money for a good cause every year. This year's cause is the Our Kids Center. Our Kids provides medical care and counseling for children who are victims of sexual and/or physical abuse. The organization serves 44 counties in Middle Tennessee through its headquarters on Hayes St. in Nashville and clinics in Cookeville, Clarksville, and Lawrenceburg. Tennessee in Training participants are not required to raise funds as a part of the program, but everyone will have the option through an online account.
